SWIMSUIT BILLABONG

Hiking, waterfalls, and a one piece swimmer from Billabong is just what you need in the midst of this blazing summer. On our way to the Outcry Tour concert in New Orleans, we made a pit stop by Clark Creek Natural Park to do a little hiking and check out their many waterfalls. This was actually my very first waterfall to see, and I was quite mesmerized (even though it was tinier than most).

I would have never guessed, but hiking in a one piece swimsuit was actually a pretty good idea as far as sweat and waterfalls are concerned. Throw a shirt around your waist and some tennis on and you’re ready for a good waterfall hiking adventure!

While I would have probably preferred to take this sweet swimmer out on the waves, the beautiful waterfalls of Mississippi were a good second. Be sure to check out more of Billabong’s awesome gear HERE.

And also, “Don’t go chasing waterfalls”.. had to do it.

Sometimes, less is definitely more. I love taking basics and making a super simple, but chic look. I feel there are a few important keys to mastering this type of look:

First, neutrals with pops of color is one of my favorite techniques. This allows you to keep the outfit relatively simple, but still add some detail and excitement to your look. The color of the “pop” definitely varies with the season.

Second, minimal jewelry, especially around the neck. In my opinion, any long or short chunky necklace almost always dresses up the outfit a bit more, which can still look excellent. However, when going for a more simple look, dainty necklaces and earrings are always a plus. (I never mind chucking up the bangles and rings.)

Lastly, ponies always seem to make a look a little more simple and chic. Not to mention you don’t have to spend as much time fixing your hair (ain’t mad about it). A straight or curly pony tail goes perfectly with this sort of look. Throw on some of your favorite sunnies, and you’re good to go!

This look seems to be my “go to” these days. What are some of your favorite looks this summer?

I would also like to wish my hubby a very happy 1 year anniversary. Can’t believe I’ve already been married to him for a whole year. Time FLIES. Can’t wait for many more.

Ahh..had such an amazing time on our family  beach vacation this week. Leaving is always SO HARD. This trip consisted of laying out, eating, playing putt putt, surfing tiny waves, more laying out, more eating, and some good family time. I must have a little beach nook to slip away to one of these days.

Having a flowy maxi is always a must for me at the beach. When I found this gem, I knew it would be perfect. I immediately fell in love with the color and felt it was a tiny start to my fall transition; although, there are many more smoldering Louisiana summer days upon us. Heck, I could possibly whip this maxi back out around Christmas time and still be pretty cozy (last Christmas I was in shorts, gotta love LA). After Jo and I had our dinner date, we took a stroll on the beach and I was super comfy and free in this beautiful dress.

Saying goodbye to the beach is NEVER easy, but spending the last night in my FP maxi made it a little more bearable. 😉 Back to reality, but we still plan to make the most of what’s left of summer.

Many of you have been asking for a fitness post, so here it is! I’m going to try to go through all of the details of my health/ lifestyle to give you guys as much information as possible. Fitness has been a large part of my life for most of my life. From the age of 3-14 or so, I did competitive dance and gymnastics. In college, I was a part of my school’s cheer squad, which did not lack with keeping me in tip top shape. It’s been about 2 years since I’ve cheered, so I had to find something I enjoyed to keep me in shape.

I’m not particular about my physical activity, and honestly, it changes with the seasons. For a while I was hooked on going to “Booty Barre” at my gym once a week. There have been seasons I have just run a mile a day. Right now, I have found a workout plan that I enjoy and is quick and efficient. Hubby and I purchased a DVD set called Insanity Max 30 by Shaun T. The DVD set runs over a course of 2 months; however, we have continued to do it past that point. There are 3 cardio DVDs and 2 strength/power DVDs. I try my hardest to do 1 cardio and 1 strength workout a week. The DVD also comes with a killer 10 minute ab workout that I try to do twice a week if possible. I also try to keep up my gymnastics when possibly bc that’s truly the most amazing full body workout!

As far as my diet goes, I don’t particularly eat healthy (I don’t eat McDonald’s very often or anything crazy like that) but I’m big on portions. I believe that’s pretty important in a diet. A typical day looks like this: half of a blueberry bagel for breakfast, half of a grilled chicken wrap with bacon, BBQ, and onions (and a bag of jalapeño chips) from Roly Poly for lunch, and dinner is always changing anywhere from Olive Garden to grilled chicken breasts at home. Once I know I’m full, I try to stop eating right then (and of course save room for dessert). I also try really hard not to eat past 7:00 if possible.

I hope that information was helpful and encouraging. The truth is, we all respond to certain workouts and diets differently. The important thing is to find what you like and enjoy, and just be active! God made us all so different and unique, but we are all SO beautiful in our own ways. Strive to ‘be perfectly you’ in your fitness and life, and you can’t go wrong. (: What do you guys do to stay active?

You’re beautiful, and don’t forget it.
